The problem with looking to others, or other things, is that the successes are never your own and the failures always are. That's an improperly skewed system - however beautifully it's cloaked.

There are crappy days. And then there are crappy, crappy, crappy, . . . days. That last one? Today met those criteria. Nevertheless, there's best moments to be discovered: Applying a warm towel to my son's neck (he strained it playing wiffle ball. . . seriously) and him looking at me like I just invented Nutella or something.

I desperately need to find my Social Security card. Desperately.
In the unsuccessful attempt to do so, I have found everything but the card: My first driver's license. . . Old pics of my dad, friends, an ex-stepfather's parents, random people, and my old hamsters - Betty & Wilma. . . Letters, letters, and more letters. (People used to write, y'all. And, from such cool places. My friends are much more well-traveled than I.). . . A really cheesy Olan Mills pic from 1986 (this was not that long ago.) . . .

. . .We all sat on one side of a picnic table, sang the songs poorly, said yea or nay to my iPhone edits of the pic below, and whispered answers to the speaker's questions from the back of the amphitheater - quietly cracking each other up.
